Distribution troubleshooting
Quick fixes for release delivery, metadata rejections, takedowns, and audio validation.
Quick fixes for the most common distribution and delivery snags. If your issue is not listed, or a fix does not resolve it, email support@notnoise.co with your release link and we will investigate.
I can't find my artist on Spotify
Make sure your music is distributed to Spotify and the release is live. If your artist name has special characters, try searching with the exact spelling. If you still can't find it, contact support with your Spotify artist URL.
My release is stuck in review
Each store publishes on its own schedule: YouTube Music typically takes about a day, most stores about two, and Spotify and Apple Music up to five. Smaller and regional stores can take up to 2 weeks. If your release is still showing In review well past those windows, contact support@notnoise.co with your release URL and we'll investigate.
Spotify rejected my metadata
Common reasons:
-
Title in ALL CAPS.
-
Featured artists listed in the title field instead of the Featured Artist field.
-
Emoji or non-standard punctuation in the title.
-
Low-resolution artwork (under the 1400 x 1400 minimum).
When a store rejects a release, it shows Needs fixes in your catalog. Open the release in Distribution to see the specific issue, then fix and resubmit.
My release went live on the wrong Spotify profile
When a store can't confidently match your artist name, it can attach the release to another artist with the same name, or spin up a duplicate profile. This is a store-side matching issue and it happens at every distributor. Email support@notnoise.co with the release link and your correct Spotify artist URL and we'll send the correction; you can also request a profile merge directly through Spotify for Artists support.
I need to change my release date
While the release is a draft, change it freely in the editor. After submission, email support@notnoise.co as soon as possible; if the release hasn't shipped to the stores yet, we can pull it back. Once stores have the release, the date can't be moved without a takedown and re-release.
When do I get paid?
Stores report royalties on a delay, typically a few months behind the streams themselves, so don't worry when a release week doesn't show earnings right away. Royalty statements appear in Distribution under Revenue as stores report, and payouts run via PayPal once your balance crosses the minimum threshold in the Distribution Terms.
My cover song was flagged
Covers need a mechanical license for the underlying composition, and you are responsible for securing it before release. Set the track origin to Cover when you upload. If a store rejects or flags a cover, confirm your license covers that territory and send it to support@notnoise.co.
My takedown is taking too long
DSPs take different amounts of time to process takedowns. Spotify and Apple Music are usually 1 to 7 days. YouTube Music can take up to 14 days because the audio may also be in fan-uploaded videos. Smaller and regional DSPs can take 1 to 4 weeks. NotNoise sends the takedown request immediately, but the DSPs control the actual removal. If a takedown is over the expected window, contact support@notnoise.co.
My audio file failed validation
Common reasons:
-
File format not WAV or FLAC.
-
Sample rate below 44.1 kHz.
-
Bit depth below 16-bit.
-
Audio clipping (peaks above 0 dBFS).
-
Mono file submitted as stereo, or vice versa.
-
File size exceeds the upload limit.
NotNoise shows the specific failure inline during upload. Fix the file in your DAW and re-upload.
My Beatport request is pending
Beatport requests are handled manually by NotNoise support and Revelator. Revelator may approve the request, reject it, or ask for more information. Existing Beatport label pages may need transfer from a previous distributor. If a unique label page is not approved, delivery may use the parent label or Revelator's RVTR Audio label page.
