Connecting your artist

Link your artist profile to auto-populate smart links and track your growth.

NotNoise asks you to find your artist while you create your account. This guide covers everything around that step: connecting later from Settings if you skipped setup, adding Apple Music, switching profiles, and fixing connection issues.

Why connecting matters

Connecting your Spotify artist profile is the single biggest thing you can do after sign-up. It unlocks Insights, lets Smart Links auto-detect your releases across 20+ supported destinations, makes you eligible for Playlist Pitching, and pulls your discography into Distribution. Without it, you can still use Smart Links and Ads, but you're operating in a smaller version of the product.

Apple Music is a second-tier connection: useful for cross-platform Insights, not required.

Connecting Spotify

Go to Settings > Artist and click Connect Spotify.

  1. NotNoise searches Spotify for artists matching the name you signed up with. If you see your profile, click it.

  2. Don't see yourself? Paste your Spotify artist URL directly. Find it on your artist page > Share > Copy link to artist.

  3. Confirm the artist. NotNoise pulls your discography and profile data. Analytics can take a few hours to populate, especially for newly connected artists.

You don't need to be on Spotify for Artists to connect. NotNoise reads public Spotify data through the API. If you do have a Spotify for Artists account, your private analytics stay private; NotNoise doesn't see them.

Connecting Apple Music

From Settings > Artist, click Connect Apple Music. Paste your Apple Music artist URL (find it on your Apple Music artist page > Share > Copy Link).

Apple Music data shows up in Insights alongside your Spotify data. Platforms report on their own cadence, so expect Apple Music numbers to lag behind Spotify's.

What gets unlocked

  • Insights starts populating with your discography, streams, listeners, and playlist placements. Free accounts see a preview; Pro and above unlock artist-level Insights across supported platforms.

  • Smart Links auto-detect your releases. When you create a Release Link, NotNoise scans Spotify's metadata (ISRC) and finds the same release on Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal, and more.

  • Playlist Pitching becomes available. The A&R team needs a Spotify URI to pitch your track.

  • Distribution catalog pulls in your existing releases via Imports, so your catalog view shows everything you've shipped, not just what you ship through NotNoise.

If you don't have a Spotify artist profile yet

You can still create your account and use Smart Links, Ads, and Distribution. During setup, add your artist manually (type the name exactly as it will appear on your streaming profiles) and connect Spotify later. Insights and Playlist Pitching stay gated until a Spotify profile is connected.

If you're a brand-new artist with no releases yet, the easiest path is to ship your first release through NotNoise Distribution. Spotify creates an artist profile when your first release goes live. Once it appears, connect it from Settings > Artist.

Changing or disconnecting

Once connected, your Spotify and Apple Music links are visible in Settings > Artist. To switch artist profiles (rebranding, side project), click Disconnect and then re-connect with the new profile.

After switching, Insights rebuilds around the newly connected artist. Give it a few hours to gather data, especially for an artist NotNoise hasn't seen before.

Troubleshooting

  • I see multiple Spotify profiles with my name: Spotify duplicates can happen when distributors mis-tag a release. Pick the one with your actual discography. If both are yours and you want them merged, contact Spotify for Artists support directly.

  • NotNoise can't find my artist: if your music is distributed to Spotify but the release isn't live yet, your profile won't exist. Paste the URL once the release is live. Special characters in your name (é, ñ, accented letters) sometimes break search; the URL paste works regardless.

  • Connected but no data: give it 24 hours. Spotify's public API has rate limits and NotNoise pulls in batches. If data hasn't appeared after a day, contact support@notnoise.co with your Spotify URL.

  • Wrong artist connected: someone with the same name. Disconnect and reconnect with the exact URL of your profile.
